Julie and Tyler returned nearly an hour later. Karen was dressed and ready, relaxing in a summer skirt that showed off her toned, increasingly tan legs.

“Hey!” Karen called from the couch. “How was the spa?”

Her best friend regarded her with a measured stare. “Goooood.”

“I’m glad,” said Karen. “You guys ready for dinner yet? I’m going to eat my arm soon.”

Tyler and Julie exchanged looks before turning to study her together. The tiniest hint of a smirk formed on the corner of Karen’s mouth.

“You look like the cat that swallowed the canary,” Julie said, squinting an eyebrow.

Tyler laughed. “She certainly looks like she swallowed something.”

Karen’s smirk turned into a grin. She went bright red.

“And look at that,” said Tyler. “Her hair’s wet. Like she just showered…”

Julie gasped. “You DID it!” she cried out. “Holy shit! You did it, didn’t you?”

Karen whistled nonchalantly and pretended to look around the room.

“Oh, wow! I can’t believe it!” Julie was in total shock. “Tyler was right!” She punched her husband in the arm. “And now I lost the bet. Damn!”

It was cute, watching the two of them banter. Tyler picked his wife up by the waist, kissed her, and started tickling her for a bit.

“You actually fucked him,” Julie swore. “Wow, sweetie. I really didn’t think you had it in you!”

“Oh, it was in me.”

Tyler chuckled at her joke. Julie only shook her head. “I just didn’t think—”

“And why’s that?”

Julie shrugged. “I don’t know. Because you’re innocent? Because I’m used to seeing mostly shy, reserved Karen, as opposed to—”

“The throw-caution-to-the-wind, sex-crazed slut you’ve turned me into?” she finished. “That Karen?”

Her friend laughed. “Yeah. Pretty much.”

“Well I’m sorry to prove you wrong,” Karen said slyly. “But… I’m also very not sorry.”

Julie’s eyes flared. They took on that familiar look of excitement. “So tell me! How was it?”

Karen waved one hand dismissively. “I’ll tell you all about it later,” she said. “But right now… we’ve gotta eat!”
